Here the narrator is Angus McCaskill, grandfather to Jink, the narrator of English Creek. In this case, I found that I learned the stories behind not only the settlement of the Two Medicine area that was featured in English Creek, but the early stories of some of the characters from that book and how their lives were connected before they showed up in the other book. Some people might prefer to read this book first in order to have their timelines in the right order, but I like to read books in the order the author writes them. This is the second in the author's 'Montana trilogy', although the events of the story take place before those in English Creek, which was written before this one.
